Pilots for Change is thrilled to endorse Gary Russell for the ACPA MEC election for the Nationally Elected Member (NEM) position. Gary brings a wealth of union experience to the table combined with the ability to see things with a fresh perspective. His work ethic and commitment to representing pilots in the best way possible is beyond reproach. Gary has extensive knowledge on best practices at other pilot unions and consistently stays apprised of industry trends. He is exactly the person our Union needs, at the MEC table, to help guide us out of this pandemic storm. Gary is able to look at his past experience as a former NEM with humble eyes and realism. He acknowledges there were some areas for improvement. It truly speaks volumes about him as a person for being able to reflect on the past and then turn those lessons into a passionate drive attempting to implement changes for the betterment of our entire pilot group. There is no doubt in the minds of the Pilots for Change organizers that Gary Russell is the right person running at the right time for this job. Gary fully embodies the core elements of Pilots for Change and knows the best way forward is to ensure our union functions at a high level for all Air Canada pilots.

With our industry charting uncertain territories this year it is fundamental we have strong and steady leadership within our MEC. Gary is a leader capable of shifting between the inevitable short term crisis moments while constantly and consistently balancing the long term effects this crisis will have on our pilot profession as a whole.

ACPA announces Agreement in Principle (AIP)
Pilots for Change is in the process of diving into the executive summary of the AIP that ACPA announced yesterday and are looking forward to learning more about the proposed deal in the upcoming weeks. As always, in our democratic union, we encourage all members to educate themselves fully before coming to a decision. This is our goal in the upcoming weeks as we analyse the broader points and complete a deep dive on the details of the proposed agreement. Stay Tuned!
