The Results Are In!

Pilots for Change is excited to see that unionism is alive within our association!  Thank you to everyone who made it possible for Gary Russell to be elected as a MEC Nationally Elected Member.  Every single vote counted and your voice was critical to the future path of Pilots for Change.  The momentum is building and without your support and engagement we would not be in this moment of change.

It is thrilling to see what is possible when we do band together and work towards a common goal.  The most exciting thing is that this is just the beginning.  Even though we are in the midst of the darkest days our industry has ever faced, Air Canada pilots are deeply engaged in our profession.  This was evident in the voter turnout for the AIP and also in the NEM election.  It is fundamental that pilot involvement was high as all great unionism begins with engagement.

Thank you to all of the candidates who stepped up and ran in this election.  It takes true courage and resolve to put yourself into the political ACPA sphere and openly debate ideas in the public pilot eye.  The fact this election had many candidates running speaks to how Air Canada pilots care deeply about our profession and the future of it.  Now is the time to get to work, find our common ground and build up from there.

The passion the candidates displayed, the enthusiastic debate and commitment to the betterment of our association is exactly what drives our democratic union.  Pilots for Change encourages everyone to remain as active as possible and to continue in open dialogue, especially on issues we do not all agree upon.  As we open ourselves up to discussion and debate, what we may often find is what binds us together is much stronger than what could possibly tear us apart.  With open minds and level heads, the sky's the limit when it’s our fellow pilots who we listen to and engage with.

Stay tuned as Pilots for Change continues to mobilize and if you haven't  joined the movement yet, now is the perfect time.

In Unity,
